Start with the work, not the tool
The most successful automation projects begin with a clear picture of how work actually flows today. List the recurring tasks your team performs, how often they occur and how long they take.
Look for tasks that are frequent, rule-based and currently handled by copying information between systems. These are usually strong candidates.
Keep humans where judgment matters
Not every step should be automated. Decisions involving nuance, risk or relationships benefit from human review. Good automation design includes clear handoffs and approval points.
Measure before and after
Agree on simple measures — time spent, response speed, error rates — before you build, so you can evaluate results honestly once the automation is live.
